Ear Acupuncture for Addiction and Trauma
Maya and Whitney will be doing 5 Needle Protocol (5NP) ear acupuncture at the California Society of Addiction Medicine Conference in San Francisco. We are honored to be invited to this amazing event and hope the exposure for 5NP in this setting will be a big help for legislative efforts aiming to expand regulations around who may legally perform this incredibly safe and effective treatment in our state. Right now California limits 5NP to licensed acupuncturists and MDs. In other states laypeople and/or mental health and addiction medicine professionals are able to be affordably trained and certified to use this protocol. We want this for California!
The clinic will be closed Friday 8/23 and Saturday 8/24 so our punks can attend this great event!
Non-Diet Approaches To IBS
Check out our Most Recent Blog where Sarah from our Oakland Clinic reviews a Three Part Series on non-diet approaches to IBS written by Rachel Harley, RD, LD. Sarah shares how some of the non-diet approaches Rachel discusses in her series like sleep, regular eating patterns, food pairing choices, and calming modalities like acupuncture have played an important role in her digestive journey, and were often more helpful than dietary changes alone. If you or someone you know suffers from a sensitive digestive tract check out these resources and see if any of these tips resonate with you.
Sliding Scale FAQ
Patients often ask us for guidance on what to pay in our sliding scale, and we get it, a sliding scale isn’t something most of us come across in our daily life. Our answer though is pretty simple, you decide what you can afford and pay that! We don’t have income guidelines or ask for any income verification. We want our patients to pay what they feel is affordable for them, and totally understand that this may change over time. The purpose of the sliding scale is to make sure you can get enough acupuncture to get good results. We want you to feel better and then tell everybody you know that acupuncture works! If you still have any questions about how our sliding scale works, or how/why we offer it, please check out our Sliding Scale FAQ Blog.
Point of the Month!
Urinary Bladder 66 - The Chinese name for Urinary Bladder 66 is Zu Tong Gu , which translates to Valley Passage. As the water point on the water meridian it has a powerful cooling effect. It can be used to treat bladder issues like UTI’s or BPH, but can also be cooling to our metaphysical vision of life through the channel's connection to the head, brain, and eyes. For more information on the wonderful cooling nature of this point, check out Jeff’s Blog Post.
